Chartered Accountants must have successfully completed the Graduate Diploma in Chartered Accounting (GradDipCA), including the requisite period of mentored work experience. A degree in accounting is not necessary to undertake the Diploma.

Day to day tasks for a Chartered Accountant include:

  • assisting in the formulation of budget and accounting policies
  • preparing and delivering financial statements to boards of directors, management, shareholders and governing bodies
  • conducting audits and financial investigations
  • providing advice on the purchase and sale of businesses, mergers, capital financing, suspected fraud, insolvency and taxation
  • communicating with financial institutions and brokers to establish funds management arrangements
