It is a Broker’s role to mediate between a buyer and seller. A brokerage or brokerage firm is a business that acts as a Broker, specialising in the trading of stocks.
There are various types of Brokers, including:
- Investment Brokers who act on behalf of buyers and sellers of investments such as commodities, stocks and bonds
- Business Brokers act as intermediaries between sellers and buyers of small business. Typically, they estimate the value of the business, advertise it for sale and then handle the negotiations with prospective buyers
- Mortgage Brokers sell mortgage loans on behalf of individuals or businesses.
Though banks and other lenders used to sell their own products, increasing competitiveness in the mortgage market has lead to an increase in demand for Mortgage Brokers.
